At the Ceramics Academy, we want to help you to get your hands dirty and get creative.

This craft is perfect for beginners right through to professionals and our aim is through our Pottery Classes to enrich and teach others to embrace this tradition in a fun and playful way.

Our aim is to provide pottery classes for all, in a safe, relaxed and fun environment. Somewhere to meet and learn a new skill. We are more than just a pottery studio, we are a community.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, from ethical banking to green energy and of course, going Plastic FREE! We constantly strive to cut our carbon emissions and reduce our impact on the planet. We are partnered with The Sustainable Business Resource and Plastic FREE North Devon, two significant local initiatives.

Studio classes

Classes are suitable for absolute beginners
through to polished potters, everyone is welcome.
Any availability for classes is advertised via our email newsletter, so do sign up so we can keep in touch.

Weekly term time

Classes for Adults

Beginners are offered all the basic skills such as coiling, slab-building, press moulding and throwing, along with a variety of decorating techniques and glazing.

Each session starts with a demonstration then you are free to make something using a technique you have learned, or work on a project of your choice.

We aim to personalise sessions to facilitate your individual needs and abilities, so no matter what level you are working at you will be helped along the way.

Saturday Taster Workshops

Classes: are suitable for absolute beginners through to polished potters, everyone is welcome.

Studio Sessions: Once a month on a Saturday from
9.30 am – 12 pm.

Price: £45 plus Booking Hound Fee. Price includes glazing and firing. 

Ages: 16 years +

Children's Workshops
Once a month on a Saturday

Ceramics Academy

Kidz

Classes: In every workshop children will be making a fun project in stoneware clay, using sculpting skills, decoration techniques and mark-making.

Studio Sessions: Once a month on a Saturday from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm.

Price: £20 plus Booking Hound Fee. Price includes glazing and firing. 

Ages: Suitable for 7-16 years old. (7-12 year old's to be accompanied by one adult. 13-16 year old's may be unaccompanied.)

Masterclasses

Masterclasses

We offer Ceramic Masterclasses in conjunction with a variety of ceramic experts.

These classes are an opportunity to work with an artist who specialises in a particular area of ceramics and to really learn from the master with our tutors giving you in-depth lessons covering their unique processes.

Studio Open Access
Ceramics Academy

Open Access

Membership for Potters!
Open access will include:
  • Studio ‘hot desk’​

  • up to 3 sessions a week 

  • use of the equipment, slips, underglazes and in-house dipping glazes

  • your own storage shelf  

  • technical help and advice

Our Open Access Membership is for anyone who can work independently and is completely flexible (To have full use of the open access membership you will need to have done at least one beginner course or have some pottery experience).
