At the Ceramics Academy, we want to help you to get your hands dirty and get creative.
Our aim, through our pottery classes is to enrich and teach others to embrace this tradition in a fun and playful way.

On 27th January we turned 10!
We are so proud of this milestone and throughout this year we are planning lots of different ways to celebrate from competitions to prize draws and events. Give us a follow on our socials for details.
24 Hour Pottery Throwdown

When we first had this daft idea around 6 months ago, we didn't think for a minute we would raise that amount of money! All of us at Ceramics Academy CIC can’t thank you enough for your support.
The money raised will enable us to carry on providing subsidised pottery workshops for the local and wider community. We are currently working with a small group of young people who are neurodivergent, tailoring each session to their individual needs and strengths. It has been wonderful to watch them embrace all the studio has to offer and we very much feel that we are learning as much from them as they are from us.
We also run 'Tea Pot' sessions for local charities and community groups as well as our monthly 'Coffee Pot' workshop.
June will see our pilot 4-week fully funded course for young people who will get to try their hand at different pottery techniques such as slab building, pinch pots and wheel work, in a relaxed and supportive environment. We look forward to welcoming them soon.
And not forgetting that half the money will be going to ChemoHero, a fantastic local charity supporting people through their cancer treatment. Thank you to Rob and his team for all their help in supporting our event.

Our aim is to provide pottery classes for all, in a safe, relaxed and fun environment. Somewhere to meet and learn a new skill. We are more than just a pottery studio, we are a community.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, from ethical banking to green energy and of course, going Plastic FREE! We constantly strive to cut our carbon emissions and reduce our impact on the planet. We are partnered with The Sustainable Business Resource and Plastic FREE North Devon, two significant local initiatives.
Studio classes
Classes are suitable for absolute beginners
through to polished potters, everyone is welcome.

Weekly term time
Classes for Adults
Beginners are offered all the basic skills such as coiling, slab-building, press moulding and throwing, along with a variety of decorating techniques and glazing.
Each session starts with a demonstration then you are free to make something using a technique you have learned, or work on a project of your choice.
We aim to personalise sessions to facilitate your individual needs and abilities, so no matter what level you are working at you will be helped along the way.

Price: £276 (including booking fee). This can be paid in two instalments if needed. Plus a small fee for clay and firing.

Classes: are suitable for absolute beginners through to polished potters, everyone is welcome.
Studio Sessions: Once a month on a Saturday from
9.30 am – 12 pm.
Price: £47.16 (including booking fee). Price includes glazing and firing.

Ceramics Academy
Kidz
Classes: In every workshop children will be making a fun project in stoneware clay, using sculpting skills, decoration techniques and mark-making.
Studio Sessions: Once a month on a Saturday from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm.
Price: £20 plus Booking Hound Fee. Price includes glazing and firing. (From July 2025, the price will be increasing to £22 plus Booking Hound Fee).
Ages: Suitable for 7-16 years old. (7-12 year old's to be accompanied by one adult. 13-16 year old's may be unaccompanied.)

Masterclasses
We offer Ceramic Masterclasses in conjunction with a variety of ceramic experts.
These classes are an opportunity to work with an artist who specialises in a particular area of ceramics and to really learn from the master with our tutors giving you in-depth lessons covering their unique processes.

Open Access
Membership for Potters!
Open access will include:

Our Open Access Membership is for anyone who can work independently and is completely flexible (To have full use of the open access membership you will need to have done at least one beginner course or have some pottery experience).
